Festivals in Kirkby Lonsdale
Kirkby Lonsdale is fast becoming a popular venue to hold different festivals throughout the year. The lovely independent shops, pubs, restaurants and eateries in the town further enhance visitors’ experience of these festivals. If you enjoy this type of event please come along and visit us. In spring and summer 2019 we are welcoming the following festivals to the town.
First up is Taste Cumbria making its appearance again on the 13th and 14th April. This event has been extremely successful and attracted thousands of visitors in previous years. Some of the best food and drink producers in the county will be showcasing their produce in either the custom built chalets or gazebos in the towns market square. A range of delicious hot and cold food and drinks are available to buy and take away, making it a great family day out.
Second up is the Kirkby Lonsdale Beer and Music Festival held up at KL Rugby Club from Friday 3rd May to Monday 6th May. An extremely popular bank holiday weekend festival including great live music from many local artists and bands and a wide selection of beers, ciders and refreshments. Most of them sourced from local breweries. Camping tickets are available, however if you fancy something a bit more luxurious we still have some availability in the holiday home that weekend at the moment.
Lastly, a debut from the 2019 All Britain Fleadh Irish Music festival. Who’s up for some Irish dancing? This is the first time that this event has ever been held in a town. More than 300 musicians will be taking part in the festival, to be held at numerous venues around Kirkby Lonsdale on Friday 28th to Sunday 30th June. This is an exciting event for the town, and an opportunity to use the great smaller venues that Kirkby Lonsdale has to offer.
Are you tempted yet to come and see these three great festivals and great reasons to visit Kirkby Lonsdale? We are proud that the town welcomes visitors all year round, and the increase in these events taking place is testament to how popular the town is becoming.
A little further afield, but still local to the Lake District is the Keswick Mountain Festival in May, the Lakeland Festival of Light also in May. Then we have the Hawkshead Summer Beer Festival and Kendal Calling both in July. We will put out a blog later in the year to cover the Autumn/Winter festivals coming up.
If you are visiting Kirkby Lonsdale for any of the above festivals and are looking to stay over, there is no shortage of accommodation; it will however book up quickly. There are nearby campsites and pods, hotel rooms, and holiday cottages of all sizes. Kirkby Lonsdale Cottages are based in the centre of the town, both sleeping up to 8 people, with much sought after parking, and relaxing hot tubs.
